Made up this recipe because I didn't have enough jalapenos to make traditional jalapeno poppers and wanted a spicy side to go with tortilla soup. Hope you enjoy.

1/2 c
4 oz
(1/2 of a block) light cream cheese
1/4 c
real bacon bits or cooked crumbled bacon
jalapenos, fresh (seeds and ribs removed if you want it mild)
1/2 c
shredded cheddar or jack cheese
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
loaf of French bread, sliced 1/2 inch rounds

How to Make Jalapeno Popper Toasts


  • 1Heat oven to 350. Line a sheet pan with foil.
  • 2Slice bread into 1/2" rounds.
  • 3In a food processor, add all ingredients, except bread, and pulse until well blended but still chunky.
  • 4Spread jalapeno mixture onto bread slices.
  • 5Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
