Made up this recipe because I didn't have enough jalapenos to make traditional jalapeno poppers and wanted a spicy side to go with tortilla soup. Hope you enjoy.

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
Yum! These are a great appetizer or could be a tasty side for your next Mexican meal. There's just enough jalapeno to give it a bite. Quick and easy to prepare, keep this mixture on hand in your fridge. Then, if you're looking for a snack or guests stop by you can whip these toasts up in no time.

Ingredients

1/2 c
mayonaise
4 oz
(1/2 of a block) light cream cheese
1/4 c
real bacon bits or cooked crumbled bacon
3-4
jalapenos, fresh (seeds and ribs removed if you want it mild)
1/2 c
shredded cheddar or jack cheese
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1
loaf of French bread, sliced 1/2 inch rounds

Step-By-Step

1Heat oven to 350. Line a sheet pan with foil.
2Slice bread into 1/2" rounds.
3In a food processor, add all ingredients, except bread, and pulse until well blended but still chunky.
4Spread jalapeno mixture onto bread slices.
5Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
