cremini mushrooms
2 c
panko bread crumbs
1 c
1/2 c
corn starch
3/4 tsp
baking powder
1 Tbsp
grated parmesan
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1/8 tsp
cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp
italian seasoning
1/4 tsp
1/2 tsp
1 c
vegetable oil

How to Make Fried Mushrooms


  • 1Wash mushrooms and dry completely.
  • 2In a bowl, mix flour, corn starch, baking powder and all seasonings. Be sure they are mixed well.
  • 3Add the buttermilk. Mix to form a batter.
  • 4Place the bread crumbs in a shallow dish.
  • 5Dip the mushrooms in the batter. Let the excess drip off.
  • 6Roll the battered mushrooms in the bread crumbs to coat.
  • 7Heat one inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • 8Carefully add the mushrooms to the oil using tongs. Don't crowd the mushrooms. (You may need to cook in batches.)
  • 9Fry, turning occasionally, for 7 to 10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  • 10Gently remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel lined plate. Allow to cool for 2 to 5 minutes.
  • 11Serve with dipping sauce or ranch dressing.
