4 medium
green tomatoes
1 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 c
1 large
egg beaten with 1/2 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp
bacon drippings
1/4 c
vegetable oil

How to Make Fried Green Tomatoes


  • 1Wash and slice tomatoes to 1/4 inch thinkness.
  • 2Fill ziplock bag with flour and cornmeal.
  • 3Mix the beaten egg with 1/2 cup cold water.
  • 4Heat bacon drippings with oil to a frying temp
  • 5Dip several slices of tomatoe into egg mixture then into the flour mixture to coat. Add your salt and pepper and fry until tomatoes are tender and breading is a golden brown
