This is one of my husband's summer favorites. Someone at his work told him how good they were, so we had to try them. They are a very good appetizer or accompaniment to a meal.

Ingredients

  • - very young green beans
  • - batter:
  • - about a cup of flour
  • - about a cup of buttermilk
  • - salt, pepper, old bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder
  • - ranch dip:
  • 1/2 cup - ranch dressing
  • 1/4 cup - chopped cucumber, if desired
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • - horseradish, to taste
  • - salt, pepper
  • - dash of cayenne pepper, if desired
  • - dash of paprika

How To Make fried green beans

  • Step 1
In skillet or deep fryer, heat oil (I used coconut oil because it's healthier). Mix all ingredients for dip and place in a covered container to chill. Mix flour, seasonings, and buttermilk to make a batter consistency, add an egg (or some egg beaters in my case, if you like.) Coat each green bean (they must be the young, tender ones to cook quickly). Place battered green bean into hot oil and fry until browned and crispy. Continue frying until all you need are done, do not crowd in the skillet or deep fryer. Turn occasionally to keep from browning too much. When done, remove from oil to dish with paper towels to drain. Immediately season with salt and Old Bay seasoning. Serving with the dip is a must, it's so good!
