effie's spinach dip

Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my mother's cousin Effie Benton Moody

Ingredients For effie's spinach dip

  • 1 pkg
    knorr vegetable soup mix
  • 16 oz
    sour cream
  • 2 pkg
    frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained well
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 c
    water chestnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 c
    chopped green onion
  • 2
    loaves round bread

How To Make effie's spinach dip

  • 1
    Dip out center of bread loaves and cube for dip.
  • 2
    Make sure that the spinach is very well drained, squeeze all of the liquid out. Mix all remaining ingredients well.

    Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
