Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my mother's cousin Effie Benton Moody

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg
    knorr vegetable soup mix
  • 16 oz
    sour cream
  • 2 pkg
    frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained well
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 c
    water chestnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 c
    chopped green onion
  • 2
    loaves round bread

How to Make Effie's Spinach Dip

Step-by-Step

  1. Dip out center of bread loaves and cube for dip.
  2. Make sure that the spinach is very well drained, squeeze all of the liquid out. Mix all remaining ingredients well.
  3. Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
