Celery gets a bad rap from me, as about the only time I use it is for salads, soups or stuffing. Never do I just pick up a stalk and eat it, unless its stuffed with this delicious cheese spread. Always a hit, when I make them for a get together. This is a very old recipe of my grams. I hope you try them sometime and they might make a celery lover out of you too!

hearts, trimmed, washed and dry
8 ounces
shredded american cheese or velveeta
1 can(s)
evaporated milk
egg, beaten
1 Tbsp
1 tsp
4 Tbsp

How to Make ~ Celery Made Delicious ~


  • 1In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, stir the cheese and milk together. Keep stirring so not to scorch. Once cheese starts melting, I whisk it to smooth out any unmelted cheese. Once cheese is melted, whisk in the flour and egg. Keep whisking until thickened.
  • 2Remove from heat and stir in pimento and vinegar.

    Cool until slightly warm, then spread onto celery, can then cut into individual serving pieces.

    At times I sprinkle with crumbled bacon, for a change.
