Shishitos are usually not that spicy, though occasionally a little rascal breathes fire into your mouth. The garlicky sesame sauce tames that dragon! These are great appetizers.

  • SESAME GARLIC SAUCE:
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons tamari (or soy sauce)
  • 1 clove garlic, grated

  • 20 shishito peppers

How To Make blistered shishito peppers with sesame garlic sauc

  • Step 1
Make the sauce: Whisk together all the ingredients in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate if not using right away.
  • Step 2
Place the sesame oil, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Whisk until combined. Add the Shishito peppers. Toss until well coated. Set aside while the grill heats.
  • Step 3
Start your grill and set to medium high. When ready to cook, toss the peppers once more in the marinade and then place them in a flat grill basket. Put on the grill and cook, using tongs to flip the peppers frequently, until they are evenly blistered and slightly charred. Don't let them burn!
  • Step 4
Heap the peppers on a serving dish and serve with the Sesame Garlic sauce alongside.
