This is from Doris Vandyke one of my mothers friends from her church.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 - egg yolks (save whites)
  • 2/3 cup beer any kind but not lite
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 to 4 large spanish onions
  • 2 - egg whites

How To Make beer batter for onion rings

  • Step 1
    Stir flour,salt and pepper into bowl set aside. Beat egg whites until stiff,
  • Step 2
    Add egg yolks into flour mixture and fold in egg whites and beer. Add vegetable oil.
  • Step 3
    When batter is well blended dip sliced onions into batter and fry until golden brown.
