I fixed these open faced for a dinner party appetizer and my husband, who said he does not like salmon, tried them and loved them. He has since tried other salmon dishes and says he does like some salmon dishes in small doses. It's a work in progress, but these got it started.

  • 10 slice
    rye bread, sliced melba thin
  • 8 oz
    smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese
  • 4 oz
    creamy horseradish sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    red onion, finely diced
  • 3 Tbsp

How to Make Smoked Salmon Tea Sandwiches


  1. Soften cream cheese and mix with creamy horseradish.
  2. Mix in diced onion and capers.
  3. Toast slices of bread.
  4. Spread cream cheese mixture on toast slices.
  5. Place salmon slices on half of the slices of toast.
  6. Top salmon with a slice of toast, cream cheese side down.
  7. Remove crust from the sandwiches.
  8. Cut eat sandwich into smaller portions in the shape of triangles or rectangles.
  9. Arrange sandwiches on plate & cover. Sandwiches may be refrigerated until ready to serve.
