scallops wrapped in bacon
This appetizer is so easy to prepare but everyone thinks it is so gourmet! They think you have spent hours making it. The sauce is what makes it. The maple syrup adds a sweetness to the sauce. Everyone always wants to know what is in the sauce. If you want to save time you can use the bacon that you buy that is already cooked. I have used it when I am in a hurry.

- - 10 slices of bacon
- - 1 cup heavy creme
- - 2 t. dijon mustard
- - 2 t. maple syrup
How To Make scallops wrapped in bacon
-
Step 1Rinse scallops and dry with paper towels. Remove little tough stem on scallops. Put bacon on baking sheet and bake @350 just until slightly cooked. Remove and cool.
-
Step 2Cut bacon strips in half and wrap a slice around each scallop. (If necessary use a toothpick to hold in place) put on baking sheet. Can be made ahead and refrig. Until ready to serve. When ready to serve put in 400 oven and bake about 10-12 min. Do not overbake or scallops will be tough. It usually takes 10 min.
-
Step 3While scallops are baking make sauce. Put heavy creme in saucepan. Bring to boil and turn down to simmer and add Dijon mustard and maple syrup. Let simmer about 5-10 min til sauce is slightly thickened. Serve over scallops. I serve these as an appetizer for special dinners. I put 3 scallops in a small seashell dish and cover with sauce. Garnish with parsley. Everyone raves about these!
