itoy's siomai
(1 RATING)
Siomai is the first food i ever cooked for Itoy, my fiance. Come to think of it, for his entire clan! I brought a few dozens for their family reunion when we were barely a month together. Needless to say, I made quite a good impression (or so Itoy says).

Ingredients
- 1 package molo wrapper
- 1/2 kilogram ground pork
- 1/4 kilogram shrimps
- 1 small white onion, grated
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon kikkoman soy sauce
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 1 small carrot, grated (optional)
How To Make itoy's siomai
-
Step 1Pour hot water over ground meat. (I do this to slightly "cook" it.) Drain.
-
Step 2Slice shrimps into itty bitty pieces, almost the size of the ground meat.
-
Step 3Combine ground meat, shrimps, grated onion, and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly.
-
Step 4Add a few drops of Kikkoman soy sauce (I insist on Kikkoman!), salt and pepper to taste.
-
Step 5Put a teaspoonful of the siomai mix in the center of a molo wrapper. Twist corners together.
-
Step 6Steam the siomai or deep fry. Serve with chili sauce or soy sauce with lemon juice.
-
Step 7Serve with wanton noodles or yang chow fried rice.
