We always have this for our special gatherings - i.e.- Christmas, New Years - Thanksgiving. I always make a double recipe and it helps keep my guest happy while i finish setting out my party food. This is a very old recipe i have been using for years and it is truly a crowd pleaser.

  • 1/4 c
  • 6 Tbsp
    lemon juice, fresh3
  • 3 lb
    cooked plain shrimp

  • 1 1/2 c
  • 1/4 c
    lemon juice, fresh
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    prepared horseradish
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    finely chopped celery
  • few dash(es)
    tabasco hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    grated sweet onion

How to Make Hot Shrimp with Dipping Sauce


  1. Make the dipping sauce up to 3 days ahead and refrigerate. Just combine all ingredients to let them marinate.
  2. Place butter in a large chaffing dish and when melted add the lemon juice. Add the shrimp and sir a few times to make sure they have all warmed nicely.
  3. Dip the hot sshrimp into the icy-cold dipping sauce and enjoy.
