Use this rich, creamy, cheesy shrimp to top grilled steak, chicken, fish or pork. It's even great on rice and pasta. Can be used to top a simple crusty toasted bread for a decadent appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 pound shrimp: peeled, deveined and chopped
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons cajun, creole or blackening seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cracker barrel white extra sharp cheese
  • - extra butter to saute shrimp

How To Make cheesy cajun shrimp topper

  • Step 1
    In a 2 QT sauce pan, melt butter, whisk in flour. Cook to a golden blonde color. Increase heat, whisk in stock and half&half. Simmer until thickened, adding in cheese at the very end until melted and smooth.
  • Step 2
    In a saute pan, saute shrimp in butter adding in cajun seasonings. Cook through. add entire shrimp mixture to cheese sauce.
  • Step 3
    Serve over meats, fish, pastas, rice, crusty bread, even as a stuffing for zucchini, eggplant or peppers.
