Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons gresh ginger, grated or finely minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3-4 pounds chicken wings, tips cut off
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • sesame seeds, for garnish
  • thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

How To Make teriyaki wings

  • Step 1
Put the first four ingredients in a small saucepan. Add 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil and whisk until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside to cool a little. Add the sesame oil.
  • Step 2
Put the chicken wings in a large ziploc bag and add the marinade. Zip the bag and massage the marinade into the wings to coat completely. Refrigerate for at 1-4 hours, massaging occasionally.
  • Step 3
Remove the wings from the bag and sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons sesame seeds. Place the marinade in a saucepan and bring it to a boil for a full minute. Set aside.
  • Step 4
Grill the wings over medium heat, turning and basting with the cooked marinade, until they're done. This will take about 15-17 minutes.
  • Step 5
When done, remove to a serving platter and sprinkle with a few more sesame seeds and the sliced green onion tops.
