Ingredients
- 1 loaf - vienna bread (or a long, thin french baguette )
- 1 pound grated austrian butterkase cheese (or grated swiss cheese)
- 8-oz can - chopped mushrooms, drained
- 3 - green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
- 1 cup - butter, melted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
How To Make stuffed vienna bread
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut a long sheet of foil at least 6 inches longer than the baguette; set aside.
-
Step 2Make diagonal cuts about 1 1/2 inches wide in the baguette, cutting through about 3/4 of the way (but don't slice all the way to the crust).
-
Step 3Mix the cheese and mushrooms until well combined, and stuff the filling into the baguette slits. Place stuffed baguette in the center of the foil.
-
Step 4Mix together the green onions, poppy seeds, seasoned salt and parsley, and spread it evenly on top of the baguette.
-
Step 5Stir the melted butter, lemon juice and dry mustard until well blended. Spoon the butter mixture over the baguette. Wrap the foil around the baguette so it's completely covered with foil.
-
Step 6Place the wrapped baguette on a baking sheet, and bake for 40 minutes.
-
Step 7To serve, fold the foil back and pull off pieces of the warm bread, and enjoy as a snack or appetizer.
