Ingredients

  • 6 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 3 - shallots, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili crisp
  • - fresh cilantro
  • - lettuce leaves
  • - oil for deep frying

How To Make son-in-law eggs

  • Step 1
    Combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, and tamarind paste in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce to low, and cook 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Add a little oil to another pan and brown the shallots and garlic, and set aside.
  • Step 3
    Deep fry the eggs at 350 degrees; 3-5 minutes until browned.
  • Step 4
    Cut in half. Lay lettuce leaves out on a serving platter. Top with the eggs, then sprinkle the shallot and ginger over the top. Then add the chili crisp over all, then drizzle the tamarind mixture. Top with cilantro.
