Recipe submitted by Barbara Hetfleisch.

Barbara brought this dish to a pot luck of ours. I was surprised to see this in the 11x14 dish rather than a deep pedestal dish. Her reasoning was that this way you can more easily get all seven (or 9) layers much more easily - good point!!

How to Make Seven Layer Salad (really, nine!)

Step-by-Step

  1. Layer first 5 ingredients in an 11x14 glass baking dish- works best rather than a deep clear bowl.
  2. Spread the entire amount of the salad dressing mixture over the peas.
  3. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over all, then a layer of the crumbled cooked bacon, then the sliced or crumbled hard boiled eggs.
  4. This must be made one day prior to serving. Cover with Saran Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
