You know how well most of us Loves Hushpuppies and these are truly the best I have ever made.

method Stove Top

yield 8 to 10

Ingredients

1/2 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 cups yellow corn meal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 small onion finely chopped
1 - whole egg beaten
3/4 cup milk
2 cups oil

How To Make hush puppies

Step 1

Sift together dry ingredients.

Step 2

Add Onion.
Step 3

Add egg and milk, stir slightly.
Step 4

Heat Oil to medium heat.
Step 5

Drop about a tablespoon of batter in at a time. Flip when one side becomes golden brown, and continue to cook until entire puppy is golden brown.
Step 6

Drain Hush Puppies on a dry paper towel.
Step 7

Makes about 20.
