Recipe idea I tried 8/13/2010 from a recipe I found at bigoven.com.

Ingredients

  • 1 package small corn tortillas (cut in wedges)
  • - cooking oil
  • - season to taste
  • - (taco/salsa type sauce, etc. for dipping - your choice)

How To Make fried corn tortillas

  • Step 1
    Take about four or so corn tortillas at a time (stacked together) and cut in pizza shaped wedges. After desired number of tortillas are cut, heat oil on stove top in a heavy deep boiler. Turn oil to high to heat up and then reduce heat to medium to medium high. Drop cut wedges a little at a time in hot oil and fry until very light golden color and crisp (not long - they burn quick) Remove from oil with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels. Serve plain or season to taste. (I served mine with mild taco sauce for a dip.)
