deep fried onion balls with cajun ranch sauce
I wanted to try something different instead of a plain onion ring. So I came up with Onion Balls. Onion broilers are like pearl onions, but a little bigger. Found them in the produce section labeled onion broilers.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
These deep fried onion balls are a twist on onion rings and deliver a punch of cayenne flavor. Boiler onions are battered in a crust that has a kick. We suggest starting light on the Cajun and cayenne pepper, and adding to suit your taste buds. The onions are smaller and slightly sweet. A nice combination with the savory, spicy crust. They're delicious dipped in the spicy ranch dip. Trust us, you won't eat just one. You do need to be OK with crunchy onions. These do not get soft in the middle like onion rings. If you prefer that texture, try preparing these with pearl onions. They do take a little while, so reserve these for when you have the time.
