Easter is the perfect time to make these adorable colored deviled eggs. As if deviled eggs couldn't get any better, we've colored the egg whites to make the most festive appetizer. Don't just limit serving these at Easter, though. The egg whites can be colored to suit any holiday - Halloween, Fourth of July, Christmas, etc.

Ingredients

  • FOR HARD-BOILED EGGS
  • 12 eggs
  • 2-3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 quarts ice water
  • FILLING
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons sweet relish
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • DYED EGGS
  • 4-5 - drops food coloring (your choice of color)
  • 3 cups water

How To Make colored deviled eggs

  • A pot of water boiling.
    Step 1
    Fill a pot halfway with water. Bring water to a rolling boil then turn it to medium heat.
  • Adding eggs to the pot with a spoon.
    Step 2
    Use a spoon to gently place eggs in the pot.
  • Eggs cooking in the boiling water.
    Step 3
    Let eggs cook uncovered on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • Covering the pot of boiling water.
    Step 4
    Turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Adding hard-boiled eggs to ice water with vinegar.
    Step 5
    Add ice, water, and 2-3 Tbsp of white vinegar to a 2-quart bowl. Using a spoon put the cooked eggs into the ice water. Let cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Eggshells removed.
    Step 6
    Remove eggshells.
  • Rinsing the hard-boiled eggs.
    Step 7
    Rinse eggs with cool water.
  • Eggs cut in half and yolks removed.
    Step 8
    Slice the eggs in half longways. Remove the yolks.
  • Mayonnaise, mustard, relish, salt, and pepper mixed in with egg whites.
    Step 9
    Mix the mayonnaise, mustard, relish, salt, and pepper. Depending on how smooth you like the filling, use a fork or a hand mixer.
  • Food coloring in small bowls.
    Step 10
    In three bowls, add 4 to 5 drops of food coloring. When using a light color, like yellow or yellow-green, drops of color may need to be added to the water for more vibrant color.
  • Adding water to the bowls.
    Step 11
    Then add 1 cup of water in each bowl.
  • Egg whites added to the dyed water.
    Step 12
    Add 8 egg white halves to each bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Draining the dyed eggs.
    Step 13
    Remove the dyed egg whites from the bowls. Let them drain on a paper towel.
  • Adding filling to the egg whites.
    Step 14
    Fill each dyed egg white with yolk filling.
  • Colored deviled eggs ready to serve.
    Step 15
    Chill the eggs before serving.
