Dad was forever adding spice to things you didn't normally add spice to like chocolate candy, but he loved to use nuts the most. In this one was dad's favorite spice combination. Charles Garner 2004

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 cups roasted & salted whole cashews*

How To Make chili cashews

  • Step 1
    Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Line baking dish with Aluminum Foil shiny side up. Spray foil with non-stick cooking spray, set aside.
  • Step 2
    Roll cashews in 2 tbsp of vegetable oil.
  • Step 3
    Combine oil, chili powder, cumin, red pepper, & sugar in a medium bowl with wire whisk.
  • Step 4
    Add nuts to spice mixture, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Step 5
    Transfer nuts to prepared baking dish and spread in single layer. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden, stirring once or twice in cooking process.
  • Step 6
    * Mixed nuts can be used instead of cashews
