my dad makes this when he makes fish for us they are good and not to spicy or hot i don't like to hot and spicy but these are great

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion, minced
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, ground
  • 1 - egg
  • - peanut oil as required

How To Make cajun hush puppies

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients except oil then mix well. Heat 1 inch of oil until hot but not smoking.
  • Step 2
    Drop cornmeal mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls into oil to form hush puppies.
  • Step 3
    Cook in batches 2-3 minutes, while turning to brown on all sides.
  • Step 4
    Remove from oil with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels on a platter. Serve immediately while still hot.
