This is a sauce that should really be cooked with cured meats like little smokies or sausages but I remember my mother would make it with steak strips or tips to get my fussy brother and I to eat it our red meat.

kielbasa, or smoked sausage
1/4 c
maple syrup (the real stuff!)
1/4 c

hot sauce

How to Make "Sweet Meat" Pot


  • 1Saute the sausage, (Now I made this so many times in my life, but when people really started commenting on it was when I decided to cook the sausage until all the skins and flesh got really browned and crisp) takes like 10 minutes.
  • 2after you have crisped your meat add syrup, honey and hot sauce.
  • 3Now cook over medium high heat and stir and cook and stir and coat for about 20 minutes. sauce should be dark amber syrupy and thick
  • 4If you can keep the meat warm in electric pot or slow cooker... It's best if the syrup mix stays warm.
