swedish meatballs with sauce

My family love these. They are very good and less calories than other kind of meatballs. I sometimes serve these with a salad, asparagus, and rice or potatoes.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR MEATBALLS
  • 2 tablespoons onion, chopped
  • 2/3 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1-1/2 pound ground turkey of chicken
  • 1/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SAUCE
  • 1 cup beef broth, reduced sodium
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup evaporated skim milk

How To Make swedish meatballs with sauce

  • Step 1
    Coat a skillet with cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium heat until hot.
  • Step 2
    Add onion and sauté 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Combine bread crumbs and water; let stand 2 minutes. Add egg. Mix well.
  • Step 4
    Add salt, ground allspice, white pepper, and onion. Mix well.
  • Step 5
    Add meat and mix again.
  • Step 6
    Shape into meatball by using a teaspoon for small ones or tablespoon for bigger ones. Arrange meatball on rack of broiler pan. Place rack in broiler pan and broil for around 10 min for small ones and 12 minutes for bigger ones.
  • Step 7
    While meatballs are cooking, Combine cornstarch and broth in sauce pan. Stir and bring to boil. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add milk and blend well.
  • Step 8
    To serve, place meatballs in plate and spoon the sauce over them. 5 meatball and 2 tablespoons of sauce is considered a serving. 96 calories per serving.
