spread essentials: hawaiian deviled ham
I threw this together the other day. We have been having some really gnarly weather and I did not want to go out, so I worked with items I had on hand. The turkey was a last-minute addition, but I felt it really complimented the other ingredients, and I would use it again.

How To Make spread essentials: hawaiian deviled ham
-
Step 1PREP/PREPARE
-
Step 2What you will need? You will need a blender to mix up the ingredients and a good non-reactive container to store it in.
-
Step 3What to serve with it? Use it as you would any deviled ham… as a spread, as a dip, whatever you choose. I served this batch with some homemade crackers, and it was well received.
-
Step 4How to store it? This will last 5 – 7 days in the fridge. You can freeze it, in which case it will last for several months.
-
Step 5Homemade ingredients Two of the ingredients in this recipe can be made from scratch. Here are the recipes to do them on your own: Mayo To be sure, there are some good store-bought mayo’s on the market (my all-time favorite is Duke’s) If you live in the South, you have probably seen it on the shelves of your local grocer; however, as you travel North, it becomes as scarce as hen’s teeth. If you would like to take a stab at making your own (it really is not all that difficult), check out this recipe: https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/sauce-spread/spread/mayonnaise-essentials-faux-duke-s-version.html?r=1 Worcestershire Looking for a good Worcestershire without anchovies, or all those chemical preservatives? It is easy/peasy to make and tastes like the real thing. So yummy. https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/sauce-spread/other-sauce-spread/diy-essentials-homemade-worcestershire-sauce.html?r=1

Step 6Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
-
Step 7Add the ham, turkey (if using), pineapple chunks, and celery to a blender fitted with an S-blade and give a few 1-second pulses until nicely blended.
-
Step 8Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl.
-
Step 9Add the remaining ingredients and mix to combine.
-
Step 10PLATE/PRESENT
-
Step 11Use as a sandwich spread or as a dip for crackers or toast points. Enjoy.
-
Step 12Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
