sfiha (adapted)
(2 RATINGS)
I spent about 7 months attempting to duplicate a meal I had at Aladdin's Eatery (a Mediterranean food chain) that my husband and I absolutely fell in love with. Thanks to a spice blend I found on The Spice House's website, I was able to do so. It's spicy and sweet all at once, and actually pretty healthy all things considered. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 pound 90% lean ground beef
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 - small onion, chopped
- 1 can chopped tomatoes (seasoned)
- 1/3 cup pine nuts, toasted or raw
- 2-3 teaspoons baharat seasoning
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- - shredded sharp cheddar
- - chopped green onions

How To Make sfiha (adapted)
-
Step 1Heat sesame oil in large skillet. Toss garlic and onion in the skillet and brown briefly. Add ground beef and brown. Mix in tomatoes, pine nuts, and spices. Stir and cook for about 10 minutes, then cover and simmer on medium-medium high for 10-15 minutes, until meat is no longer pink.
-
Step 2Remove from pan with slotted spoon. Use pita bread to wrap around ground beef. Top with cheddar and green onions for garnish.
-
Step 3*Note: Baharat seasoning can be ordered from The Spice House. Otherwise, it's a mix of black pepper, coriander, cumin, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, Spanish paprika and chile peppers.
