Ingredients

sauerkraut, drained and cut up
1 c
sliced corned beef, cut up
1 c
dry bread crumbs

egg, slightly beaten
1 small
onion, finely chopped
1/4 c
water
2 Tbsp
snipped parsley
1 tsp
prepared horseradish
1 clove
garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp
salt

eggs, beaten

dry bread crumbs
prepared mustard

How to Make SAUERKRAUT SURPRISES

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix sauerkraut, corned beef, 1 cup bread crumbs, 1 egg, the onion, water, parsley, horseradish, garlic, and salt; refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  • 2Heat oven to 400º.
  • 3Shape sauerkraut mixture into 1-inch balls. Dip balls in 2 beaten eggs, then roll in ½ cup bread crumbs.
  • 4Bake on ungreased baking sheet until light brown, about 20 minutes.
  • 5Serve hot with mustard.
