I use Hillshire Farms Little Smokies or little weiners. Any that I have listed works well. I have used Hillshire Farms Keilbasy as well. Slice as you would the hot dogs. Use a spoon to serve as everyone likes the sauce as much as the "doggies". I always make these for the Super Bowl Party at my son's house.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 35 Min
method Stove Top
yield about 8-10 ( I double the recipe for a larger crowd)

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle heinz chili sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup whiskey (seagrams 7 is my choice)
  • 1 pound pkg. of hot dogs, little smokies, or cocktail weiners
  • 2 teaspoons mustard

How To Make sauced dogs

  • Step 1
Cut all of the hot dogs into 1/2 inch slices or use the whole package of cocktail smokies or cocktail weiners.
  • Step 2
Combine in a saucepan the whole bottle of chili sauce, brown sugar, whiskey and mustard. Add the hot dogs or weiners.
  • Step 3
Cook over medium heat until sauce thickens. Put in crock pot to keep warm while serving. Great Appy for any party. Refrigerate any leftovers, these reheat very well.
