My mom passed away in 2008 but left behind this recipe which she frequently made for parties.

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    coarse bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • SAUCE:

  • 1
    12 oz. bottle chili sauce
  • 1
    10 oz. jar grape jelly
  • 1 1/2 c

How to Make Party Meatballs


  1. Combine beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, egg and milk.
  2. Shape into 3/4-inch balls and chill 2 hours.
  3. Take out of refrigerator and place in a shallow pan with the oil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.
  4. Prepare sauce by combining chili sauce, jelly and water in a small saucepan.
  5. Bring to a boil.
  6. Meantime, drain excess oil from meatballs, cover with sauce and bake an additional 30 min.
  7. Spoon meatballs into a chafing dish and serve with toothpicks.
