My mom passed away in 2008 but left behind this recipe which she frequently made for parties.

Ingredients

  • MEATBALLS:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup coarse bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • SAUCE:
  • 1 - 12 oz. bottle chili sauce
  • 1 - 10 oz. jar grape jelly
  • 1 1/2 cups water

How To Make party meatballs

  • Step 1
    Combine beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, egg and milk.
  • Step 2
    Shape into 3/4-inch balls and chill 2 hours.
  • Step 3
    Take out of refrigerator and place in a shallow pan with the oil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.
  • Step 4
    Prepare sauce by combining chili sauce, jelly and water in a small saucepan.
  • Step 5
    Bring to a boil.
  • Step 6
    Meantime, drain excess oil from meatballs, cover with sauce and bake an additional 30 min.
  • Step 7
    Spoon meatballs into a chafing dish and serve with toothpicks.
