16 bamboo skewers
5 quarts vegetable oil
1¼ lbs flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
¼ cup cornstarch
¼ cup rice wine vinegar
3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp orange marmalade
1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp minced ginger
1 tbsp orange zest.1 garlic clove, minced

How to Make Crispy Orange Beef Skewers


  • 1Preheat oil in large heavy pot over medium high heat. Toss steak with cornstarch and shake off excess; let rest 15 minutes. Make the orange glaze: Whisk vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, marmalade, juice and honey in small bowl. Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add ginger, orange zest and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, about 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Pour soy sauce mixture into skillet and cook, stirring, 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Thread beef onto skewers. Once oil reaches 350, carefully put skewers in pot and fry 3 to 5 minutes or until browned land crispy. Drain on paper towels. Pour orange glaze over meat and toss gently until well coated. Serve hot. Serves 4
