Ingredients

  • - 16 bamboo skewers
  • - 5 quarts vegetable oil
  • - 1¼ lbs flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • - ¼ cup cornstarch
  • - ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
  • - 3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • - 2 tbsp sugar
  • - 2 tbsp orange marmalade
  • - 1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
  • - 1 tbsp honey
  • - 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • - 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • - 1 tbsp orange zest.1 garlic clove, minced

How To Make crispy orange beef skewers

  • Step 1
    Preheat oil in large heavy pot over medium high heat. Toss steak with cornstarch and shake off excess; let rest 15 minutes. Make the orange glaze: Whisk vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, marmalade, juice and honey in small bowl. Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add ginger, orange zest and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, about 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Pour soy sauce mixture into skillet and cook, stirring, 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Thread beef onto skewers. Once oil reaches 350, carefully put skewers in pot and fry 3 to 5 minutes or until browned land crispy. Drain on paper towels. Pour orange glaze over meat and toss gently until well coated. Serve hot. Serves 4
