Everytime I bring these to a gathering I also bring along several copies of this recipe because I am always asked for it.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

These little bites would make a wonderful addition to your next party.  Bacon is good with anything (right?!), so add that to the crunchiness of the chestnuts and you've got one delicious appetizer!

Ingredients

  • 3 cans whole water chestnuts-8 oz. ea.
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup mayonaise
  • 3/4 cup chili sauce

How To Make chestnut hors'd'oeurves

  • Step 1
    Wrap chestnuts in 1/3 piece of bacon. Place in cake pan ends down. Bake @350 for 1 hour. Drain fat.
  • Step 2
    Combine brown sugar, mayonaise, and chili sauce. Pour over hot chestnuts. Bake for 20 min. @ 350.
  • Step 3
    Serve warm with cocktail toothpicks.
