anita's pigs in a blanket
My mother-in-law "Nita" would make these on a Sunday or holiday as an appetizer to hold us over before dinner. I made them recently for a Bingo gathering at my house and they were a hit.Very easy too!

- 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing over the the balls
- DIPPING SAUCE
- 1 jar marinara sauce
How To Make anita's pigs in a blanket
-
Step 1Bake or fry the italian sausage and cut into about one inch pieces.I usually get three to four pieces per sausage. Cut up dough and stretch to wrap around sausage pieces placing seam side down on a cookie sheet. At this time I like to brush each of them with olive oil to help them brown nicely.Bake until lightly brown, about 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.
-
Step 2NOTE: you may use any type of sausage you like.I have tried specialty sausages like chicken/garlic, turkey, italian hot sausage.Keep a small dipping bowl of marinara sauce if desired.
