I made this recipe for lunch about a week ago. It took no time at all to make and was delicious . I served it with a bowl of Lentil soup.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 tbsp all purpose flour
1/3 cup of beer
1 1/2 tsp dry mustard
fresh bread slices, toasted

How to Make Welsh Rarebit

Step-by-Step

  • 1Toss cheese with flour in a heavy medium saucepan
  • 2Add beer and mustard
  • 3Heat on very low, stirring often, until cheese is melted and smooth (mixture can be prepared to this point and reheated later)
  • 4Place toasted bread slices on a small greased baking sheet
  • 5Spoon cheese mixture over toast, completely covering the surface. Broil 4 inches from heat until bubbly and lightly browned.
  • 6Broiling for too long will make cheese tough
