sweet-n-savory baked brie in flaky crust
1 boxpillsbury ready made pie crusts, open 1 pkg and sit at room temp.
116 oz brie cheese round, top rind trimmed off
1/2 tspdried marjoram
1/3 cchopped walnuts
1 largered gala or macintosh apple, cored, quaretered, cut into 1/4"-thick slices and slices halved crosswise
1 largeshallot, rinsed and minced
1/3 call-fruit apricot preserves
4 Tbspsweetened, dried cranberries, chopped
1egg, beaten in small bowl
How to Make sweet-n-savory baked brie in flaky crust
- Heat oven to 400. In lg skillet, lightly sprayed w/ cooking spray, cook walnuts over medium heat, stirring, until lightly toasted. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Spoon walnuts into a small bowl, set aside. Respray skillet and set over medium-low heat. Add apple, shallot and marjoram. Cook, stirring occasionally until all is softened. Transfer to a bowl and let cool.
- Stir into bowl with apple mix the preserves, cranberries and walnuts. On lightly floured surface, place 1 roll pie crusts and roll out to 11". Place a lg piece of parchment paper on a cooking sheet and lightly spray paper w/ cooking spray. Place brie round on parchment paper, cut side up. Spoon apple mix on top of brie. drape dough over cheese, tucking edges in underneath. Brush top of dough w/ egg. Bake about 25 mins or until crust is golden. Serve w/ hearty crackers or french bread rounds.
