These poppers are always popular snack at football games or neighborhood get-togethers. I always remove the seeds and ribs because you never know how hot the jalapenos will be. Sometimes it doesn't make a difference. LOL

Ingredients

  • 9-10 large jalapenos, fresh
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons salsa
  • 7 slices bacon
  • - barbecue sauce
  • - sour cream

How To Make spicy, savory jalapeno poppers

  • Step 1
Place the bacon on a large cookie sheet lined with foil. Place in a 375° oven until some of the fat has been rendered out.
  • Step 2
Wash the peppers and cut in half. Scrape out the seeds and ribs.
  • Step 3
Combine the cream cheese, salsa and cheddar cheese. Fill each jalapeno half with this mixture.
  • Step 4
Cut each piece of bacon into three pieces and place a piece of bacon on each pepper
  • Step 5
Once the bacon starts to crisp start basting with your favorite barbeque sauce. This will depend upon your oven and bacon and could take 15-20 minutes or more.
  • Step 6
Serve with sides of sour cream (for cooling in case the poppers are too spicy) and a little extra barbeque sauce.
