spicy sausage dip

I have had this recipe for several years. I have had many compliments on the recipe but none meant as much to me as the one I received from my brother in-law. He is a hunter and is only interested in what he brings home. A few years ago, I offered him a taste of this dip with some corn chips. He was very hesitant, but finally tried it. He said, "That's good...that's dang good." He then proceeded to ask if I would make it again with Deer Sausage for his and his friends "Wild Game Cookout." I have been making it for them for the past few years. We love it.

method Stove Top
yield A Lot

Ingredients

  • 4 packages (8-oz each) cream cheese
  • 2 1/2 pints sour cream
  • 1 can (12-oz) jalapeno peppers, diced
  • 2 pounds hot sausage, cooked (i use hot italian)
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes (i use 10-oz each, rotel)
  • 1 - red bell pepper, diced

How To Make spicy sausage dip

  • Step 1
Cook the sausage with the red pepper. Remove from heat; drain. Add the rest of the ingredients and serve warm with crackers, corn chips, or bread cubes.
  • Step 2
Note: The spiciness of this dip can be controlled by the amount of jalapenos that are used. Also, if you don't want as much spice, you can use regular diced tomatoes, rather than the Rotel tomatoes.
  • Step 3
Note: To make this a little more healthy, I have used low-fat cream cheese and low-fat sour cream. I have not noticed any difference in taste.
