Tray chic: a few quick cuts turn a sheet of frozen puff pastry into a stylish serving tray. Top with several decorative wedges of cheese or a selection of sliced cheeses cut into various shapes and sizes. Allow 2 to 3 ounces of cheese per person, and serve at room temperature.   • one large egg and 2 teaspoons water
  • one thawed puff pastry sheet from a 17 ounce package

How To Make puff pastry cheese tray

  • 1
    preheat oven to 400°. Whisk together one large egg and 2 teaspoons water. Unfold one thawed puff pastry sheet from a 17 ounce package on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with egg mixture. cut four Strips each 1/2 inch wide, from one side of pastry, cutting parallel to seam of pastry. Place pastry strips along outer edges of pastry overlapping and trimming ends of strips as needed. Prick bottom of pastry generously with a fork. Sprinkle bottom of pastry with 1 teaspoon of your favorite seasoning blend. If desired, gently press fresh herbs sprigs onto bottom of pastry. Bake for six minutes. Prick bottom of pastry generously with fork again to prevent center from rising. Bake six more minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool on pan two minutes. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool 45 minutes or until completely cool. Makes one tray.
