Wow, this garlicky olive cheese bread practically melts in your mouth as you sink your teeth into it. It's filled with black olives, green olives, and fresh garlic mixed with a creamy cheese mixture. Serve as an appetizer with a little marinara sauce for dipping. This cheese bread would also make a delicious side dish to steak.

Ingredients For garlicky olive cheese bread

  • 1
    loaf of French bread (bakery section)
  • 6 oz
    sliced black olives, drained
  • 6 oz
    sliced green olives, drained, or stuffed green olive with pimento
  • 1 bunch
    scallions
  • 2-3 clove
    garlic
  • 1 stick
    butter (not margarine) room temp
  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise (Dukes or Hellmans)
  • 2 c
    shredded Italian blend cheese or any mild white cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder

How To Make garlicky olive cheese bread

  • Softened butter, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and cheese in a bowl.

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a bowl, mix the softened butter, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and cheese. Combine well.
  • Mixing chopped scallions into butter.

    Chop about 4 or 5 scallions into small pieces and place them into the bowl containing the cheese mixture.
  • Pressing cloves of butter into the garlic.

    Next, place the garlic cloves into a garlic press and press them into the bowl (or chop finely).
  • Chopped garlic added to the butter.

    Chop the drained olives into chunky pieces and place them into the bowl. Stir these ingredients into the cheese mixture. Making sure they are mixed throughout.
  • Bread sliced in half and on a baking sheet.

    Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Place the 2 long pieces of bread on a baking sheet (can cut the slices in half to make four pieces if easier to place on your baking sheet).
  • Butter olive cheese mixture spread onto the bread.

    Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the French bread.
  • Bread after it has baked in the oven.

    Place the baking sheet into a preheated oven. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and browning a little. May slice into bite-size slices if serving as an appetizer.
