  • 2 c
    dry white wine
  • 1 lb
    swiss chees, cubed
  • 3 Tbsp
    cherry brandy or dry white wine
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 clove
  • 1 dash(es)
    each white pepper, paprika, and ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1
    loaf french bread, cut into 1 inch cubes

How to Make Classic Swiss Fondue


  1. Bring wine to a boil. Place cheese, brandy, flour, garlic and seasonings in blender or food processor. Add wine. Cover and process until smooth. Transfer to a fondue pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is hot and bubbly. Add baking soda; mix well. Keep fondue at a gentle simmer over low heat. Serve with bread.
