Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (preferably wood-fired garlic)
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 2 pinches salt
- red pepper flakes (optional garnish)
- minced jalapeno (optional garnish)
How To Make cheese dip

Step 1Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, whisking constantly.

Step 2Slowly whisk in the milk and continue cooking over medium heat until thickened.

Step 3Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the cheddar and pepper jack in several increments. Stir in the ground cayenne pepper and garlic powder.
