These are a quick and delicious appetizer that are always served on Superbowl..they are so good! I whipped up a single batch for the kids...had to hurry and take a picture before they were gone... I normally triple the batch...one makes about 14 balls. My pictures

yield makes about 14 balls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded, mozzarella
  • 3/4 cup italian bread crumbs or italian panko crumbs
  • 1 - egg white
  • - pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon each - basil, parsley, garlic powder, oregano
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • - oil for deep frying
  • - your choice dipping sauce

How To Make cheese balls - yum!

  • Step 1
In a medium bowl, mix the cheeses, spices. Set aside
  • Step 2
Beat the egg white till stiff, blend it into the cheese mixture. Add the flour, blend. This will be a loose mixture, but it comes together when rolling in the crumbs.
  • Step 3
Spoon out about a teaspoonful, roll into bread crumbs and drop into hot oil. You can test the oil with a small amount of mixture, if it sizzles it's ready. These only take a matter of second to brown..watch not to over cook.
  • Step 4
Serve with your dipping sauces. Enjoy!!
