Nothin better than a pile of steamed spiced shrimp (unless it's fresh crawfish which I can't find in Virginia), some spicey dipping sauce and an ice cold beer. That's livin!

How to Make Steamed Spiced Shrimp

  1. Rinse shrimp well. Pour bottle of beer (I recommend you NOT use stout or the like. Something like Miller Highlife or such.) into medium Dutch oven.
  2. Place a layer of shrimp over beer, then sprinkle a thin layer of pickeling spice, then Old Bay seasoning (to taste), then a layer of shrimp and so on until all the shrimp are seasoned.
  3. With a large spoon, keep turning the shrimp during the steaming process until they turn pink. Do not over cook or they will be rubbery and tough.
