I have made these on slices of French bread as hors d'oeurves for parties. It works well, but tastes best warm so you have to keep popping more of them in the oven during the party. I have also made a healthier version, using fat free cheddar and low fat mayo. This is still good, but honestly not as good as the original. Lastly, you can freeze the uncooked boats (on sliced bread or rolls) for up to a month. Pop in the oven frozen X 30min This recipe was given to me years ago by a family member and has been served at many parties, even weddings, since then. It's always a hit!
