spicy sauerkraut balls
This was one of my mother's favorite appetizers. She brought them to a lot of family get-togethers and they were always a hit. I use Bob Evans or Jimmy Dean Hot sausage, but you could use just the regular sausage.

Ingredients
- 1 pound hot sausage, crumbled
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 14 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 14 ounces canned sauerkraut, drained well
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- - bread crumbs

We used about 1/2 cup bread crumbs in the mix and 3 1/2 cups to roll the balls in.

Step 1Saute minced garlic. Fry sausage and onion. Drain off fat.

Step 2Place in a bowl and add cream cheese and drained sauerkraut.

Step 3Add enough breadcrumbs to hold together. Roll into small balls.

Step 4Whip egg and milk together. Dip balls into flour, then into egg mixture, then into breadcrumbs, Deep fry until brown.
