This recipe is from a cookbook my son gave me called Naomi's Home Companion. (Naomi Judd) I served them as of one the tea sandwiches at a tea party. Everyone liked them.

prep time 10 Min
cook time
method Broil
yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cups wheat bread, crusts removed
  • - very thin slices vidalia or other sweet onion

How To Make easy onionettes

  • Step 1
    Preheat the broiler
  • Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together the cheese and mayonnaise. Spread evenly on the bread slices. Cut each into 4 equal squares. Place a onion slice on each square.
  • Step 3
Broil 4 to 5 inches from the heat until browned, about 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
  • Step 4
Makes 16 small opened faced sandwiches. These can be cut smaller for bite size. I count 2 sandwiches for a serving.
