I've made cheese sticks before, but when I discovered this idea I thought wow! Why didn't I think of this sooner.

  • 2
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 c
    dry italian bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 12 stick
    string cheese
  • 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • ·
    cooking spray (such as pam)
  • ·
    marinara or spaghetti sauce

How to Make Simple Homemade Cheese Sticks


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees f.
    In small bowl, mix eggs and water until smooth and well blended.
  2. In large plastic bag, mix bread crumbs, garlic, basil, oregano, and pepper. Seal bag. Shake well.
  3. Coat cheese stick in flour, then dip in egg mixture, then in bread mixture. Then repeat egg mixture and bread crumbs!
  4. Cover and chill in freezer about 30 min to 1 hour to allow batter to stick to cheese.
  5. Place on baking sheet. Spray cheese sticks with cooking spray. Bake uncovered for 6-8 minutes. Use marinara sauce for dipping.
