I got this recipe from my wonderful mother-in-law. She makes this recipe every year for the holidays so she has something on hand that is quick and easy (and DELICIOUS) to make for unexpected company. I believe she got this recipe from a neighbor about 40 years ago and I do not know the original origin. Make sure to use Miracle Whip as regular mayonnaise does not give the finished dish that "tang". One thing for sure ... these cocktail/party snacks are ooey, gooey, cheesy and delicious!!

How to Make Party Cheese Ryes

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a large bowl, combine the Parmesan, mozarella, onion, Worcestershire and salad dressing (Miracle Whip). Mix well.
  • 2Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours before using to let flavors combine.
  • 3When ready to serve: Turn on broiler. Cover a cookie sheet with no-stick aluminum foil. Set aside.
  • 4Spread individual pieces of rye bread with about 1 teaspoon of the cheese mixture. (This recipe should be enough to make the entire loaf of cocktail size bread.)
  • 5Place under broiler for 4-6 minutes or until melted, hot, bubbly and browned.
