I needed to come up with a fun open faced sandwich for a baby shower and this was the result! I cut the larger slices into small pieces so they could easily fit on plates with veggies and fruit. Big success!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 16 ounces imitation crabmeat, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cocktail sauce
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish sauce
  • 2 cups celery, chopped
  • 4 - green onions, thinly sliced
  • - dried garlic flakes
  • - coarse ground pepper
  • - olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make crab melts

  • Step 1
Place cream cheese, cocktail sauce, sour cream, mayo, lemon juice and horseradish in a food processor and blend till smooth.
  • Step 2
In a mixing bowl, gently combine the cream cheese mixture, chopped imitation crab meat, chopped celery and sliced green onions. Set aside.
  • Step 3
Spread slices of your favorite artisan bread with olive oil and sprinkle with dried garlic flakes. Place bread directly on the oven racks and toast the bread at 350 degrees till just slightly crispy. Remove from oven.
  • Step 4
Place toasted bread on cookie sheet. Spoon mounds of crab mixture onto the bread and sprinkle with pepper and both types of shredded cheese.
  • Step 5
Change oven setting to broil and place cookie sheet in the center of the oven. Broil for 4-5 minutes or until cheeses melt. Enjoy!
