For the Batter:

1 Egg
•
1.5 cups water
•
.25 cup corn oil
•
.25 cup milk
•
.25 teaspoon baking soda
•
.25 teaspoon baking powder
•
1 cup corn starch
•
1 cup flour
•
For the gravy:
•
1.5 tablespoons corn oil
•
1 large celery stalk, diced
•
1/3 cup canned sliced mushrooms, drained
•
1/3 cup canned bamboo shoots, drained and roughly chopped
•
1/3 cup canned water chestnuts, drained
•
3 cups chicken broth
•
1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
•
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
•
.25 teaspoon salt
•
1 teaspoon sugar
•
4 tablespoons corn starch, dissolved in 3 tablespoons water

For the garnish:

1/3cup sliced or ground almonds, toasted
•
4 whole green onions, thinly sliced
•
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, sliced crosswise
